Immunization RegistryThe Consortium for Healthy and Immunized Communities (CHIC) is a community based collaboration working to mobilize Cuyahoga County to improve children's health by raising immunization rates. The principal project of the CHIC partnership is promoting enrollment of the community in an immunization registry. The Registry:State Immunization Information System (Impact SIIS) has made great strides in bringing private and public providers on board. Many providers have been entering data and have seen the benefit of a true statewide immunization registry. The ImpactSIIS currently contains 2,034,141 children and 8,395,516 immunization histories from provider transactions in271 main clinics throughout Ohio. As of 01/05/2004, there are 13,579 children's records who were born between 01/01/1997 and 12/31/2003 and live in Cuyahoga County. Cincinnati Children's Hospital has been using the registry to record immunizations, track children, control inventory, complete Vaccine for Children (VFC) profile reports and perform reminder and recall notices. Cincinnati Children's has seen a 30 percent increase in the rates of up-to-date shots in two-year olds since implementing the statewide registry. What's the benefit? ImpactSIIS is free to all registered medical providers who have internet access and who submit a signed security agreement. The registry provides many benefits. It can increase the number of on-time immunizations through reminders, cut down on the number of unnecessary vaccinations, obtain an immunization record instantly, assist parents in knowing when their child’s immunizations are due and, most of all, keep Ohio’s children healthy by improving vaccine coverage. What's in it for the VFC Provider? Besides the ultimate goal of improving Ohio's immunization rates and keeping children healthy, ImpactSIIS serves as a reminder and recall system for your office and provides inventory control for all vaccines both VFC and privately purchased. It keeps track of VFC reporting requirements, electronically produces your VFC profile reports, prints official daycare forms and identifies pockets of need in your area. Interested in coming on board? Currently, there are more than 150 providers both public and private using ImpactSIIS on a daily basis. ImpactSIIS is endorsed By Columbus' Project L.O.V.E., Cincinnati Children's Hospital, the Greater Cincinnati Immunization Coalition, Shots for Tots and Toledo and Northeast Ohio's CHIC Coalition. It is easy to become a registered user. Your VFC representative can point you in the right direction, or you can contact the registry staff directly at the following numbers or e-mails: Central Ohio
